Project 1
Aiming at the best possible management of the ATM and POS networks, Emporiki Bank of Greece obtained the Tandem system, which is already being upgraded. As in other cases, the bank promotes the idea of using the Fault Tolerant technology of Tandem and its existing applications in order to further improve its services.
Description of the installed Tandem equipment:
The new upgraded system of the bank is a Non-Stop Himalaya K2004 system with four CPUs. This system is connected with the IBM host and is linked online to the ATMs of the bank 24 hours a day.
The system will facilitate the increased needs of the bank for the forthcoming years. At the same time, one more Tandem Non-Stop Himalaya K2004 system with four CPUs has been installed as a front-end-process and disaster server in case of total disaster of the main system.
Project 2
Dienekis Information Systems, in cooperation with Space Hellas has proceeded in the improvement of the bank’s network by installing the following Layer 3 switches of Extreme Networks.
The BlackDiamond 6800 chassis series provide world class Ethernet switching. With the flexibility to act as an aggregation point for a large number of edge switches and its carrier class reliability and security features, the BlackDiamond has been deployed with NEBS level 3 compliance in both large enterprise and carrier networks. Additionally the BlackDiamond 6800 series has an extensive offering of interfaces, so investments in SONET, ATM, or other legacy technologies are fully protected. And with 3 sizes of BlackDiamond chassis, a wide range of needs can be met from the edge to the core, with all three chassis delivering cutting-edge performance, reliability, and scalability.
The Alpine 3800 chassis switches are ideally suited for delivering broadband IP services to metropolitan area networks (MANs), service provider and enterprise data centers, multi-tenant buildings and enterprise wiring closets. The Alpine platform provides total Ethernet coverage with support for both standard Category 5 and fibre optic media as well as first mile technologies that extend the reach of Ethernet over VDSL and legacy WAN technologies.
The Summit fixed-configuration switches deliver high-performance multilayer Ethernet switching to wiring-closets, aggregation points and the network edge in an affordable compact form factor. Ideally suited for networks where space and costs are a concern, Summit switches are capable of delivering the advanced routing, security and quality of service features normally found in chassis-based switches. Summit switches can be used in various networking scenarios by simply choosing the model that fits customer’s needs.
Project 3
Dienekis has installed the Prognosis software of the Integrated Research for the management of all of the bank’s ATM’s and POS. Through this implementation it became feasible the immediate spot of technical problems that the ATM’s and POS may face as well as the sufficiency of ATM’s banknotes.
